Product Marketing Specialist

We’re looking for an experienced Product Marketing Specialist to join our Marketing & Communications team. In this role, you’ll develop a thorough understanding of OCAS’ evolving list of products and services, as well as their unique features. You’ll serve as the strongest link between Marketing Communications and our Product Management team, our Customer Success Office, and more, helping all our teams deepen their understanding of how OCAS’ products and services are evolving and what that means for our partners in the Ontario college ecosystem.  
 

Reporting to the Manager, Marketing Communications, as Product Marketing Specialist you’ll be instrumental in ensuring marketing collateral – from web pages to email newsletters and annual reports – accurately describes OCAS’ key products and services. You’ll also help build go-to-market strategies and campaigns that clearly articulate the benefits of OCAS’ new and legacy products and get our partners and audiences excited about them. To do this, you’ll need to be an effective writer and researcher, a creative visionary, and someone who loves collaborating with technical teams to make complex topics easy for a broader audience to understand.

In this role, you will:

  • Connect with developers, product managers, customer success managers and others to establish a deep understanding of OCAS products and their users
  • Help identify opportunities for marketing initiatives related to OCAS products
    • Support persona identification and mapping of buyer journey
    • Support product branding activities, such as design and product naming
    • Drive creation and lead execution of go-to-market strategy
  • Identify product value proposition and marketable features
  • Identify key audiences and promotional opportunities
  • Create and collaborate on the execution of launch plans
  • Measure and report on success metrics
    • Design campaigns tied to organizational goals such as:
      1. Attracting new customers
      2. Increasing usage / satisfaction of products amongst existing customers
      3. Bringing awareness of new features and enhancements
  • Identify necessary collateral for each OCAS product
  • Develop content in collaboration with product SMEs
  • Ensure materials are up to date and accessible
    • Support business development and customer success teams in positioning and communicating products to potential customers
    • Promote products directly where appropriate
  • Support regular communication on products and services outside of launch – including new customer announcements, maintenance activities, product issues, etc.
  • Maintaining a visible, engaging product usage / customer map
  • Create / support internal awareness / education on OCAS products and features

You should have:

  • Completion of a diploma or degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or related post-secondary program with equivalent experience.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across departments, most notably Marketing Communications and Product Management
  • Exceptional time management skills with the ability to develop and communicate product vision to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience with the design and implementation of successful product-branding strategies
  • Experience helping external stakeholders understand complex products and services
  • Experience collaborating with product managers and/or developers
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong research, analytical, organizational, process improvement, and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced understanding of digital marketing channels, from websites to social media and email newsletters
  • Experience in campaign development and reporting
  • Familiarity with online marketing and CRM tools
  • Experience with Google Analytics

Nice to haves:

  • Experience in higher education and/or non-profit organizations
  • Three-plus years’ experience working in agency or corporate marketing environments

 

*Please note that this is a six-month contract opportunity with the possibility of becoming a full-time and permanent position.

Work location

In response to COVID-19, we’ve been operating in a blended virtual and in-office arrangement. We consider everyone’s situation based on their health and family obligations, the business needs, and Government mandates for working from home.

In February, we’re rolling out a hybrid model where you can spend five days each month (or more if you prefer) working in the office, and the rest of your time working from home.

When you’re in the office, you can take comfort in knowing that our surroundings are cleaned vigorously every day and there are spacious private cubicles to give us the physical distance to feel comfortable.
