Ontario College Labour Negotiations
Last updated: October 15, 2025
This page provides information and updates on labour negotiations happening between employees at Ontario’s 24 public colleges, represented by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) and the College Employer Council (CEC), the provincial bargaining agent for the colleges.
Full-Time College Support Staff
On October 15, full-time college support staff announced a tentative agreement with the CEC. Picketing at the colleges has ended and employees will return to work on October 16.
Part-Time College Support Staff
Part-time college support staff are also currently in negotiations with the CEC regarding a new collective agreement. OPSEU is holding a vote from October 14 to 17 on potential labour action.
While this vote does not necessarily mean another labour disruption is inevitable, if one occurs, it could further impact application response times, as well as some services at the colleges.
Information for Guidance Counsellors
We understand that students may have concerns about the effects of a labour disruption on their college applications.
OCAS continues to send applications and student grades to the colleges. However, individual colleges may experience delays in responding to applicants if their support staff become involved in a labour disruption. We encourage applicants to monitor updates from their chosen colleges and contact admissions offices with specific questions.
The labour disruption may also impact college events, including the College Information Program (CIP) and Open Houses. We'll update the CIP schedule and Events Calendar on the ontariocolleges.ca website as needed. Please contact college representatives for information on specific events.
